How carpet has become green

Carpet manufactures are now required to add an assessment GREEN_LABEL_PLUS_DIN_medof $.20 per square yard of carpet sold as defined by California Assembly Bill #2398. The revenue collected helps to fund improvements in landfill diversion and recycling of post consumer carpet. Green Label Plus is a voluntary industry testing program for carpet and adhesive products. Carpets that qualify for Green Label Plus designation meet or exceed California’s indoor quality standards for low-emitting products used in commercial settings such as schools and office buildings. Studies have shown that with proper cleaning and maintenance, carpeted rooms have a lower level of dust-borne allergens in the air than rooms with hard surface floors. The carpet research which supports this statement can read online at www.shawfloors.com. See our “Carpet” section for brands sold in our showroom. A sales associate can help determine “green data” on the style of carpet you select.
